You may wonder if being friends first is a good thing to start with as the foundation of any lasting relationship. There are a lot who believe that a man and a woman can be friends – as in real friends. Not all friendships may turn move into being a relationship but it can be a very good connection to start with being friends first before jumping into a romantic relationship. Here are some good reasons why couples should be friends first.
1. Jumping too quickly in a relationship and getting into bed without knowing each other on a deeper level is only good for a short period of time. But if you move too fast in a relationship, the chances of being committed may not be that great.
2. Sex is not everything. When this is the main thing that makes your relationship, it will not last long. Emotional compatibility must be taken into consideration as well. Someone must be able to make you feel fulfilled not only inside the bedroom, but outside of it too. If you have a great connection in the bedroom, how much more if you can meet someone who respects and cares for you a lot.
3. When you start out as friends, you become comfortable with each other just like friends are. This makes the transition to the next level smoother and more successful because you know each other’s mannerisms and other traits. As friends you have a more solid foundation, you know what each other wants and you can decode each other’s moods. There are no expectations and pretensions when you are friends beforehand.
4. When you and your partner trust and respect each other, you are also able to tolerate each other more because you are friends before you are lovers.
We live in a time where relationships are short-term, where one-night stands are very common and where romance means jumping into bed the first chance you get. The foundation of friendship can lead to a lasting relationship and it gives you something to look back to on how you were brought together. If all you have to glue you together is going to bed, then the relationship is most likely to go south.
